What is a mechanical automatic screwdriver?

Release Date:2024-08-22 Strike:617

What is a mechanical automatic screwdriver? All current automatic screwdrivers operate through mechanical motion, employing either robotic arms or robots. These include coordinate-based systems and SCARA robots; the former utilise coordinate positioning, while the latter feature four- or six-axis robotic arms controlled by motors for precise positioning.

Handheld automatic screwdrivers refer to standard handheld models, representing the most common type of automatic fastening equipment. During production, the operator holds the device in one hand while positioning the product with the other for fastening. Compared to traditional fastening methods, fewer screws need to be handled; alignment with the screw hole is sufficient for secure fastening.

Coordinate-based automatic screw fasteners are compact and lightweight, featuring dual Y-axis synchronous alternating operation to maximise production efficiency. They offer excellent screw versatility, accommodating M1.0 to M5 screws through interchangeable screw feeders. Screwdriving products can be handled by robotic arms or coordinate gantry structures, supporting various combinations of YZ axes for fastening operations. It accommodates both front-loading/front-retrieval and front-loading/rear-retrieval configurations. With an average cycle time of 1.5-2.0 seconds per screw, its speed stability leads the industry.

SCARA robotic arm automatic screw fastening machines have gained popularity in recent years. The fastening mechanism is mounted on the robotic arm, with screw hole positioning achieved through angular alignment. Primarily suited for products featuring uneven surfaces and deep holes, it can also utilise CCD vision systems for positioning. Four-axis robotic arms enable 180-degree planar operation, similar to coordinate-based systems, while six-axis robotic arms provide 360-degree coverage without blind spots.
