Automatic screwdriver slippery teeth how to do

Release Date:2024-08-22 Strike:771

Screw stripping in automatic screwdriving machines is predominantly linked to screw quality, though occasionally relates to the screwdriver bit. Should stripping occur on already-driven screws, here are some handy tips to tackle the issue effortlessly.

1. What to do when an automatic screwdriver machine strips a screw

1. Place a thin layer of material such as double-sided tape, non-woven fabric, or paper beneath the screwdriver bit. This enhances friction!

2. Apply a small amount of superglue to the contact point between the screwdriver bit and the screw head. Insert the screw, then once the glue has set, use needle-nose pliers to remove the screw (avoid using a screwdriver to prevent further stripping). Ensure the glue is fully cured before proceeding. This method requires careful execution.

3. For exposed screw caps on automatic screwdrivers, grip the cap firmly with needle-nose pliers before unscrewing. Alternatively, trim off the cap, disassemble the casing, and proceed with repairs.

4. Such tiny screws are indeed tricky to handle. One method, borrowed from bicycle repair, involves drilling a shallow hole directly into the centre of the stripped screw using a small electric drill. Then insert a reverse-thread tap and turn it in.

5. Use an electric drill to drill out the screw in reverse.

6. Heat the tip of a screwdriver red-hot, then press it firmly against the screw head. After holding for approximately five seconds, the screw should release.

7. Drill through the nut, then utilise the reverse thread principle to extract the remaining screw (a specialised drill bit for stripped screws – a stripped screw extractor – may be employed).

8. Scrape the screw head repeatedly with a small knife until the Phillips head is flattened into a flat head, allowing removal. This process typically takes around ten minutes.
